Your newborn photo session should be scheduled for the first 10 days after your baby has been born. If you are breast feeding make sure your milk has come in. Don’t worry if you are feeling exhausted at this stage. It’s quite normal and I will do my best to make this a really beautiful relaxing experience for Mommy as well. I have a comfortable sofa next to the studio where you can just relax, watch everything happening in the studio and enjoy a cup of tea and a snack.
Bear in mind that you need to allocate 3 - 4 hours for this session. This is because I go according to your baby's pace. If your little Prince or Princess needs to be fed, changed and soothed back to sleep in between shots - it's a process that can't be rushed. I know that sometimes Daddy can't take this much time off, so he is welcome to come for a short while or stay for the whole session. I always try my best to get the family photos done when Daddy is there - as long as baby is happy.
Try to keep your baby awake for as long as possible before you arrive at the studio. This can be done by giving your baby a bath or by changing him or her before you leave for the photo session. The aim is to have your baby sleep through the photos...
Try to schedule your feed at the studio, so that your baby will fall asleep here.
Please don’t put any tight clothing on your baby – e.g socks and a tight diaper. Their skin becomes red and marked quite easily by clothing that is tight, and that takes time to fade.
If you are breast feeding please try to avoid the following foods 24 hours before the shoot: Onions, garlic, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage, beans, coffee, any dried fruit, citrus fruits, bran and oatmeal.
I have a very large range of outfits and newborn props that are available to you for the photo session, but feel free to bring along any props or outfits of your own that you would like to features in the photos.
